As with many council estates from this period De Beauvoir Estate has neglected the potential for public space between buildings. This re development project densifies the site by creating narrower pedestrian friendly streets and courtyards.
Qualities of the past urbanism are remembered and re instated with a pedestrianised route through the site and new ink over the canal to the south.
Through studying a number of Arts and Crafts projects the approach to the architecture is a contemporary reinterpretation of historic styles in the area.
